Mauna Ulu Volcanic Cone – Hawaii Cam
Mauna Ulu is a volcanic cone located in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It is a relatively new formation, having last erupted in 1974. The name “Mauna Ulu” translates to “growing mountain” in Hawaiian, and it is so named because of its continuously growing shape. The cone was formed as a result of a series of lava eruptions, and visitors to the park can hike along a trail to get an up-close view of this impressive natural wonder.
The most active volcano in Hawaii is Kilauea, located on the southeastern part of Hawaii’s Big Island. Kilauea has been erupting continuously since 1983, and its ongoing eruption has created new land and destroyed numerous homes and structures. The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, part of the United States Geological Survey (USGS), closely monitors Kilauea’s activity, providing updates to the public on its website and social media channels.
