Halemaumau Crater Cam – Hawaii

Halemaumau Crater is a pit crater located within the much larger summit caldera of Kīlauea volcano. It is located within Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. The name Halemaumau means “house of the ʻāmaʻu fern”. Since 2008, the crater has been undergoing periods of inflation, deflation, and eruptive activity. Its most significant eruptive episode began on December 20, 2020, when a new lava lake was first observed at the base of the crater.
